Mets v Red Sox

In case it’s never been said here before, I’m quite the Mets fan. This includes Bobby Valentine.

The Red Sox are my “AL team,” and tonight I went out for drinks with my friend Mike, who is a Sox fan with the Mets as his “NL team,” and we had a lengthy conversation.

Ultimately, we believe he’s a great match for the Sox. With all the crap they dealt with last year, manufactured and natural, and considering how low-key Francona was, Valentine is someone who will take focus away from the bullshit and become the focus, in a good way. He’s expert in letting his players’ individual weirdness exist without the media focusing on it. And with the extra focus the Boston media likes to dump all around, this stands to be particularly important.

Good luck, Bobby V. You might need it because of what you’re walking into, but you’re a natural and this is a great place for you.
