Reusable Coffee Cups
I drink a lot of coffee. And I work from home once or twice each week, lingering over a cup for hours sometimes. I finally grew tired of my coffee getting cold in a standard, open-topped mug. I also drink a fair amount of Starbucks, so when I decided to buy myself an insulated mug, I went for one of theirs, so they’d use it for my coffee when I went in. I figured, be environmentally friendly *and* save a whopping dime on each trip to Starbucks.
Thing is, when I bring my personal cup to my local Starbucks, they not only call out my drink order to the barista (a massively complicated grande Americano), they also take a paper hot cup, write my order on it and drop it into the personal cup. So in the end, a paper cup is still being thrown in the trash.
I tweeted at Starbucks this afternoon, but I doubt I’ll get a response. This seems like an utterly ridiculous process though that I’d like to see changed. Otherwise, apart from the 10 cents, why the hell am I bothering to carry a cup around with me?
