Cake(s)
My aunt, who is both a superb baker and cook, has been doing cakes for a few years now. Weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, birthday parties, etc, and she’s quite incredible with her design work; it’s truly professional caliber.
She’s going to be doing the cake for keewee10’s and my wedding as her gift to us, and we’re incredibly excited about it.

So I have a pretty common name, so much so that I used to claim I was completely un-Googleable. ;) And because I’m on top of things and an early adopter, my email address is therefore elizabethlemon@gmail. (Lemon isn’t really my last name but you get the picture. Just imagine an even more common…

Today's fantastic conversation with a recruiter
Recruiter: What hourly rate would you want for this consulting job?
Me: A minimum of $XX, especially considering the need to commute to New Jersey for this one.

Me: No, I really need it to be $XX.
Recruiter: $XX-10?
Me: $XX.
Recruiter: Ok, $XX. Are you available to interview tomorrow and start on Monday (Ed Note: Monday is Memorial Day, but...

I miss Toast. Where can we get some eggs benedict for under $10?
Try Lansky’s… Columbus between 70th & 71st. They do pretty decent Benedicts, including Crabcakes Benedict. Also, as of our last trip there, you get a free drink with your brunch, and their Bloody Mary isn’t half bad either.

My dinner last night was full of win
While the wife-to-be was out drinking her face off, I decided to stay home & make myself dinner, and while I’m a pretty decent cook, I hate doing it just for myself. As a result, my normal dinner on a night like this would be takeout/delivery, or maybe if I were feeling industrious I’d buy a hamburger or turkey burger from Fairway and pan-fry it. Not last night though…

On an obnoxious former co-worker...
Tonight, I’m meeting a friend and former co-worker, who moved back to his native London a couple of years ago and is over this week for work, for dinner and drinks. He, in turn, invited other former co-workers of ours, most of whom I’ll be very happy to see as well. Except for one in particular.
This guy and I aren’t enemies or anything sinister like that; we just don’t...

The eternal dilemma
heathalouise:
Why is that whenever I attempt to put my skills and qualifications into resume format, I begin to think I’m a crushing failure incapable of any type of gainful employment?
I know it’s not actually the case, but any time I try to write a resume, I draw a blank on any of my actual skills.
You’re not alone… The act of writing a resume is soul-crushing. While you, like...
